Not always known by tourists
Anaga Mountains Tenerife occupy the north-east part of the island. This is the greenest part of Tenerife, covered with rain forest at higher altitudes, roughly starting from about 600 meters above the sea level. The highest spot of the area is at Cruz del Taborno (1024 m).
Anaga is a region of exceptional natural beauties and this decision of UNESCO is fully justified. The climate of Anaga is very specific and affected by trade winds. They bring clouds from the northwest, which settle on the top of the mountain range and do not cross to the south. As a result, this is a wet and green area. You may walk through clouds for many hours and you will become wet without any rain, while the rest of the island is still completely sunny.
